Wai Leng completed Masters in Clinical Psychology at Macquarie University. She holds national registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist with endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist. She is authorized to provide clinical psychological services under Medicare. Wai Leng is a member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA) and Australian Psychological Society (APS). She uses various therapeutic models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Schema Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Mentalization Based Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, as well as Parent-infant therapy.
Wai Leng has over thirteen years of clinical experience working in both public mental health inpatient unit, community mental health services, Karitane residential unit, family care centre (child and family health), Jade House (long term therapy for perinatal mood disorders), and private practices. She has also overseas experience working in child protection services. She can help you with anxiety disorders, depression, stress and work related issues, conflict management, bipolar disorder, psychosis, surviving abuse or history of abuse/trauma, adjustment to life changes, parent-child relationship challenges, antenatal and/or postnatal depression, postpartum psychosis, parent-infant relationship.
Wai Leng is passionate about the area of Perinatal and Infant Mental Health (i.e. adjustment, anxiety and depression during the antenatal and postnatal period, parent infant relationship and parenting) and has extensive skills and experience in this area. She also works with parents going through losses in relation to pregnancies or birth trauma, adjustment to parenthood, and impact of arrival of newborn on parents’ relationship with other children, as well as the impact of parental postnatal depression on the family. She is interested in parent-infant therapy and psychodynamic therapy.
