Monica Kleinman

TRAINING
Monica completed her postgraduate studies at Sydney University. She has since completed courses in several treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy for PTSD (PET), CBT for PTSD and Written Exposure for PTSD and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for all of which she trained in the USA, and EMDR where she trained here in Sydney.

CLINICAL EXPERIENCE
Monica has worked in private practice, her own, where she did some Employee Assistance Program work but concentrated on corporate consultancy and training in the area of crisis intervention across industries as diverse as aviation, mining and security. She has worked extensively with NSW Emergency Services accepting the role of Clinical Director with NSW Rural Fire Service and then NSW State Emergency Service. She is a trained Disaster Recovery Team Leader and has been awarded Commonwealth recognition for her work in this field. A uniformed officer in the Australian Army Reserve Psychology Corps, she finished her military career as a staff officer at HQ, Forces Command providing advice to Command on the mental health of soldiers to better inform policy. She has also worked clinically as a civilian in Garrison Health.

INTERESTS
Monica’s focus for many years has been on the early intervention and subsequent treatment of traumatic exposure. She also has an interest in the treatment of substance use disorders, depression and sleep disorders and disturbances. Her other main interest is travel.
